We’re well over half way through autumn and becoming aware that winter is almost here. I love lots of things about winter; curling up with a great book in front of an open fire or log burner, yummy, nourishing soups are just a couple that come to mind.
In the cooler months our homes can seem a bit lacklustre but by incorporating a few ‘warming’ essentials, they can be winter ready in no time. Here’s some tips:
Add indoor plants. You may have noticed that real house plants are becoming very en trend and they’re certainly a great way to add some pizzazz. If you’re thinking of trying some real plants, it’s probably a good idea to get them settled in your home before winter does set in. Remember though, winter is a dormant season for most plants.
Sometimes going with fresh just isn’t a viable option however- maybe they’re too expensive or more likely, it’s simply just too much work to maintain them. So if this sounds like you then I have some great news! There are some wonderful, extremely realistic options available on the market today that are pretty hard to distinguish from the real thing.

Next add some texture in the form of throw rugs, cushions and floor rugs. Knitted cushions and throws look amazing and are perfect for cold winter evenings.
Adding a rug to a room, particularly if you have timber or tiled floors, can really lift the look of a space, making it look and feel cosier.
Last but not least, lamps and candles are essential in the winter months. They light up and soften any room while creating a wonderful ambiance. Make sure your candles are scented.
Now you’re all set to make the most of winter!
