A French-Country Manor Reimagined
Set across 15 acres near Jenolan Caves in NSW’s Blue Mountains region, Hartley House is a French-Country inspired sandstone manor. Shaped by a deep connection to France and country living, the home balances rustic elegance with practicality.
Following a devastating fire in 2022 that destroyed much of the main residence the home was extensively rebuilt and renovated, with works completed in late 2025.
The Interior – The owners wanted to preserve the home’s European character while introducing comfort and durability suited to contemporary use. I for Style’s creation of a layered interior with a French- Country influence included a fluted butlers sink, stunning wainscoting and wall mouldings on the library joinery and the wall behind the main bedroom bed, antique and salvaged pieces throughout. All these elements add depth, warmth and authenticity.
The Exterior – The French-Country classic proportions and traditional detailing were retained by the use of locally quarried sandstone, preloved vintage French-style front entry doors, shutters and classic French garden layouts.
The result is a carefully rebuilt country manor that feels grounded, generous and considered. A home shaped by experience, restored with intent, and designed to be lived in and shared.
