Lurleen’s story
Sometimes I’m asked why I chose to be an Interior Designer in Sydney. Many years ago, my husband Graeme asked a simple question, “If you could do anything you wanted for a career, what would it be?”
My answer was immediate “I’d love to be an interior designer”
At that time, with four young children and a husband who travelled frequently for work, pursuing that dream felt difficult. But that conversation became the beginning of what would grow into more than 25 years in the interior design industry.
I first completed studies in Colour Consulting and Interior Decoration at the International School of Colour & Design – hyperlink), then owned and operated a retail furnishing store, where I worked closely with clients seeking personalised in-home interior design guidance.
Later, I completed a Diploma of Interior Design and Decoration at Sydney Design School – hyperlink) and continue to hold long term membership with the Design Institute of Australia and the Colour Society of Australia.
Over the years, I For Style has received multiple awards recognising professional excellence, creativity and industry commitment.
What’s the thing that motivates me the most? I’m deeply passionate about creating homes that make a hugely positive difference to how people do life. I often say “it should feel like the joy a child unwrapping a gift they’ve been dreaming of, where everything feels exactly right, even better than you imagined”.
